Celebrating these humble beginnings will be the focus for the Third Annual Live Oak Founders Day celebration. This event will be held at the Suwannee County Historical Museum on Saturday, May 12 from 9am – 3pm. The day will feature several programs and presentations focusing on the history and personalities of Live Oak’s humble History
The Suwannee County Historical Commission will host an open house of the Union Passenger Depot from 10am until 2pm. The Commission will also introduce a self guided walking tour downtown, known as Founders’ Trail. Brochures will be available for distribution.
Beginning at 10am, local Historian and Author, Eric Musgrove will share historical anecdotes and glimpses into Live Oak’s rich and diverse past and its public figures, offering insight on subjects such as the Railroad, industry and commercial growth.
The Suwannee County Museum will also feature a renewal of displays within its galleries, adding a special focus on the persons and events that shaped not just Live Oak’s history, but Suwannee County’s as well. In celebration of this anniversary event, the museum will offer free cake and refreshments beginning at the 11:00 hour on the deck of the Historic Union Passenger Railroad Depot.
